Storylines
- The Lindenwood football team returns home on Saturday night for a 6 p.m. contest against Pittsburg State. The game will be part of Family Day activities at Lindenwood.

- The Lions won their only home game so far in 2016 with a 49-26 victory over Central Oklahoma in week one of the season. Lindenwood has not been as lucky in two road games since then, losing both by less than a touchdown. Last weekend, the Lions fell at Washburn by a 34-29 score.

- Pittsburg State has won two straight contests and is 2-1 on the season. The Gorillas survived an overtime scare last weekend at home against Northeastern State by a 38-37 margin.

Connor Harris continues his pursuit of the NCAA All-Division career tackles record. Harris became NCAA Division II's all-time leader against Northeastern State, and currently has 532 career tackles. Harris is tied for fourth on the All-Division list with current Carolina Panther Luke Kuechly, and is 18 tackles behind the all-time leader.

- Pittsburg State leads the all-time series with Lindenwood by a 3-1 margin. The Lions won the first meeting in 2012 with a 44-33 victory in Pittsburg. The Gorillas have won the last three, however, including two at Hunter Stadium.

- Last season, Lindenwood fell to Pittsburg State by a 56-28 score in Pittsburg, Kan. The Gorillas scored 35 unanswered points in the second quarter, helped by several special teams mistakes by Lindenwood.

- Pittsburg State and Lindenwood are two of the highest scoring teams in the MIAA this season. The Gorillas are third by averaging 36.7 points a game, and Lindenwood is one spot, and one point, behind with 36.3 points a contest.

- The Lions will look for a better start on Saturday than their previous three games. The Lions have trailed at half in every game this year, but are outscoring teams by over 15 points in the second half.

- Lindenwood ranks fourth in the MIAA in scoring offense (36.3), and it is fifth in the MIAA in total offense (436.0).

Kendell Sparks became the first Lion in program history with two games in a season with 10 or more receptions. He has caught 10 passes versus Central Oklahoma and Washburn, and fell one short of that mark versus Northeastern State.

Deantrell Prince are one-two in the MIAA in receptions per game. Sparks is averaging 9.7, while Prince is averaging 8.3 catches a contest. Sparks in third nationally, while Prince is ninth.

DeSean Warren all rank in the top-11 in the MIAA in receiving yards per game. The trio has combined for 665 receiving yards this season, 88.5 percent of the team's total.

- Lindenwood already has eight drives this season of 10 or more plays, just three less than all of last season. Its 18-play drive against Washburn matched last year's high which came against Pittsburg State.

Lions Defense
- Lindenwood's defense ranks seventh in the MIAA in scoring defense (31.7), and is 10th in total defense (470.3).

- Lindenwood has forced nine turnovers this season, the top mark in the MIAA and the 12th-most in NCAA Division II football.
Bakari Triggs has three interceptions, and
Wesley Thomas has two interceptions and one fumble recovery. The Lions are third nationally with three defensive touchdowns, with two from Triggs and one by Thomas.
