- The Lindenwood football team will travel to Tahlequah, Okla. this week looking to move to 2-0 on the season. The Lions will face Northeastern State on Thursday night at 7 p.m.

- Linebacker
Connor Harris will be looking to make NCAA Division II history on Thursday night. Harris enters the game with 510 career tackles, seven behind the NCAA Division II record of 517 which is held by Winona State's Deric Sieck. Harris enters this week ranked 11th all-time among all divisions of NCAA football, and is 40 tackles behind the all-division record.

- Lindenwood opened up the season with an impressive second half against Central Oklahoma that led the Lions to a 49-26 victory. Lindenwood trailed 20-13 at halftime, but its defense allowed just one touchdown in the second half and had two interception return touchdowns. The offense also scored three touchdowns in the final half to help the team pull away from the Bronchos.

- Northeastern State opened up the season with a 38-19 setback at Washburn. The RiverHawks had over 400 yards of offense in the game, but they allowed 535 to the Ichabods.

- Lindenwood is 1-1 all-time against Northeastern State. Last season, the RiverHawks ended the season with a 17-14 victory over the Lions in St. Charles, Mo. In the previous meeting in Tahlequah, Okla., Lindenwood won by a score of 35-16.

- Lindenwood is 4-2 all-time in games played on Thursday evening. The Lions have won two straight, including last week's win versus Central Oklahoma.

- The Lions are looking to open the season with a 2-0 record for the first time since the 2013 campaign. Lindenwood has won its first two games of the season seven times during the
Patrick Ross era at the school.

- Lindenwood will be playing its fifth game all-time in the state of Oklahoma. The Lions are 3-1 in their previous games, but lost last year to Central Oklahoma in its only trip to the state.

Lions Offense
- Lindenwood ranks first in the MIAA and tenth nationally in scoring offense (49.0), and it is fifth in the MIAA in total offense (451.0).

- Quarterback
Mason Bendigo had a quarterback efficiency mark of 154.8 against Central Oklahoma after throwing for 264 yards and three touchdowns. That mark was the second-highest out of his eight career starts. Bendigo was the only quarterback in the MIAA to throw for three or more touchdowns in the first week of the season, and he also rushed for another score.

- Lindenwood had two 100-yard receivers last week in
Kendell Sparks and
DeSean Warren. Sparks had 10 receptions for 106 yards, while Warren had five catches for 140 yards. They combined for 10 receptions that were good for first downs, including five on third-down plays.

- The running back duo of
Calen Campbell and
Shakeem Wharton also had good opening weeks. They combined for 165 rushing yards and averaged 6.6 yards a carry.

Lions Defense
- Lindenwood's defense ranked sixth in the MIAA in scoring defense (26.0) after week one of the season, and is 12th in total defense (587.0). The Lions lead the MIAA in forced turnovers with five.

Bakari Triggs was named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. He set a MIAA record with two interception return touchdowns against Central Oklahoma. Triggs also had a new Lindenwood record with three interceptions, and he had the second-most interception return yards in a game in program history with 123. Besides the interceptions, he also had five pass breakups and five tackles.

Connor Harris extended his streak of double-figure tackle game to 17 against Central Oklahoma. Harris had 15 tackles in that game, including one tackle for loss.

Jonathan Harris continued his strong play from the end of last season after leading the team last week with 1.5 tackles for loss and recording the team's only sack. Harris also had a key interception in the second quarter.

- The Lions had 11 pass breakups and 15 passes defended against Central Oklahoma. Besides Triggs,
Wesley Thomas and
Ricky McCoy also had multiple breakups.

Lions Special Teams

Kendell Sparks led Lindenwood's return game last week by having 114 kickoff return yards, and averaging 38.0 yards per return. His top return went for 73 yards and helped set up a Lindenwood touchdown on its first drive of the season.

Allen Thigpen averaged 38.4 yards per punt in his Lions debut. He punted five times and had two inside the 20-yard line. Three of the kicks were fair caught, and one was at the 50-yard mark.

Team Notes
- Â The 49 points scored by Lindenwood last week tied for the most points by the program in a MIAA game, and was the most since the team's inaugural MIAA season in 2012. Under head coach
Patrick Ross, Lindenwood is now 48-0 when scoring 40 or more points, and 68-3 when putting 30 or more points on the scoreboard.

- Lindenwood continues its early-season road trip on Sept. 17 with a trip to Washburn. The Lions and Ichabods will play at 6 p.m.
