Table tennis earned multiple wins individually and in the team format at the Vernon Hills Tournament October 7-8 in Highland, Indiana.

One of the top performances of the weekend came from Shraddha Belbase, who won the women's Division A title, upsetting higher ranked players in every match she played.  Massao Kohatsu won the Division A singles title, upsetting National Collegiate Table Tennis Association (NCTTA) National Singles Champion Yichi Zang three games to two along the way.  Kohatsu was also part of the first place Division A team with Jeff Yamada, who took third in Division A singles, followed by Alex Legaria in fourth, Santiago Sevilla in fifth, and Filip Cajka in sixth.  Bangyao Sun wasn't able to place, but did upset Sid Naresh and Jinxu Yang, both higher rated players.  Legaria and Sevilla took third in the Division A team competition. 

Joaquin Kanashiro won the Singles B competition, upsetting Felipe Morita 3-2.  He also stepped up to finish third in Division A team.

In Division B, Kevin Choo upset Nadan Naresh, a member of the USA Cadet National Team, and he finished third in Division B team.  Chelsea Edghill took third in the women's Singles Division A and also finished third in Division B team.

Jake Arciniega earned two first place finishes, in Division C singles and Division E team, Roman Sivkov took first in Division D team, and while not placing, Liaoliao Gong did get a nice win against Lya Mellinda, a higher rated player in Division A.

The Lions get a few weeks off before returning to action at the South Shore Championships October 28-29 in Libertyville, Illinois.
