Several injuries kept women's wrestling from fielding a full squad, but the team battled through two losses December 9 at Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Missouri.
In the first dual against Emmanuel, the Lady Lions fell 36-10, but there were some positives. In the 109 lb. match, Shania Melendez was able to score a four-point throw on No. 2 ranked Maria Vidales. The Lindenwood freshman ultimately lost 14-4, but was able to earn a point for the Lady Lions. In the 191 lb. class, Jasmine Portugal earned her first win of the season with a 6-0 victory, giving Lindenwood three points in the dual. Mariya Gaither lost her match in the 143 lb. class, but earned a point for the Lady Lions. Alexis Altamira and Leslie Alaniz wrestled, but were not able get any points for Lindenwood.
In the second dual of the day, the Lady Lions were shutout by McKendree 46-0. The same six wrestlers competed for Lindenwood, but did not earn any points.
Due to injuries, the Lady Lions had to forfeit four of 10 matches in each dual, resulting in 20 points for the opposition before anyone else took the mat.
Lindenwood wrapped up the fall campaign with the two duals. The team will return to action in the spring semester.
