The Lindenwood Lions track and field teams kicked off the indoor season Saturday afternoon at the Illinois Wesleyan Titan Opener in Bloomington, Illinois.
Lindenwood pole vaulters led the way for the Lions as newcomer
Austin Blakeslee won the men's completion that featured 15 vaulters by clearing 4.24 meters. Three Lions women's pole vaulters finished in the top four as senior
Amanda Parker and junior
Nicole Barton both cleared 3.35 meters, good for second place, while senior
Hannah Jachino finished fourth with a jump of 2.90 meters.
Other highlights for the men's side included Lindenwood newcomer
Logan Kulinski who finished second in the weight throw with a throw of 16.45 meters, while
Damaine Dixon's 22.80 in the 200 meters was good enough for second place.
On the women's side, other notable performances were
Regina Huesca-Barrales who finished second in the 300 meters (42.23) and
Anna Tyan who finished third in the high jump (1.55m) and fifth in triple jump (11.10m). Lindenwood's 4x400 relay team featuring
Lexi Hafford, Huesca-Barrales,
Breanna Wright, and
Andrea Charles finished third with a time of 4:11.39.
The Lindenwood track and field teams will take off for the holidays and return to the track for a meet at Purdue on January 10-11, 2020.
