Women's rugby finished second in the University Women's Elite division at the Tropical Sevens tournament April 19-20 in Gainesville, Florida. In the pool of five teams, the Lions went 3-0-1 to earn a spot in the championship match, but weather delays and travel schedules prevented Lindenwood from actually playing the final. 

Lindenwood posted a solid 33-5 victory over STARS Rugby and a 34-7 win against Army West Point on Friday, and then the Lions earned a 17-12 victory over Guelph Gryphons and tied Life University 12-12 on Saturday.  The Running Eagles posted a record of 2-1-1 to earn a spot in the final against Lindenwood, and then took the championship when the Lions had to travel back. 

Lindenwood now focuses its attention on the USA Rugby Women's Collegiate Sevens National Championship May 25-26 at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Arizona.
