Women's wrestling placed three in the top eight and finished fifth overall in team competition at the Elite Tornado Open January 19 at King University in Bristol, Tennessee.
Angelique Terrones-Cruz was the highest placing Lions, taking fifth in the 116 lb. class. She defeated Ann Rush from Campbellsville in the opening round 8-0, but lost in the next round. She stopped Natalia Sovero from Tiffin University by technical fall 11-0 and topped U23 World Team member Brooke Richards, also from Tiffin, in a 7-4 decision before her day ended.

Valerie Mamleeva took sixth place for Lindenwood. After a victory over Richards from Tiffin, she lost to Maria Vidales, but then rallied for two straight wins, the first against Hailey Stevenson from Limestone University 17-8, and the second over Rush from Campbellsville by technical fall 12-0. She was knocked out of the competition in the next round.
Jasmine Ward defeated Jacey King of Limestone by technical fall 10-0 in the 123 lb. class, and she stopped Alexandra Herle of Emmanual College 9-7 to secure a top eight place in the event.
Alexis Altamira pinned Ashton Hall of Limestone University at 1:41 to solidify a top 12 finish in the 130 lb. division.
The Lions host No. 10 ranked MacMurray College in a dual January 24. Wrestling begins at 5:30 p.m. at Evans Commons on the Lindenwood campus in St. Charles, Missouri.
