Following its impressive victory over No. 8 Florida Southern on Sunday evening from Lakeland, Fla., the Lindenwood women's lacrosse team received a surge in both national polls released on Monday. The Lions, who enter the week with a perfect 3-0 record, rose from No. 7 in the Nike/US Lacrosse poll to No. 1 and went from No. 9 in the IWLCA Coaches Poll to No. 5.

Lindenwood has taken down two ranked opponents in its three games so far in 2020. The Lions opened the season with a commanding 19-7 victory over then-ranked No. 14 Colorado Mesa on Feb. 8. Yesterday evening, the Lions added another signature win to their resume, taking down the eighth-ranked Florida Southern Mocs by a 13-8 final score. Lindenwood's other victory this season came during a 19-4 triumph over Davenport on Feb. 16.

The Lions have used a balanced attack to achieve success this season, ranking ninth in NCAA Division II in scoring offense (17.00 goals per game) and ninth in the country in scoring defense (6.67 goals allowed per game).

Lindenwood will face another tough test in its next game, tomorrow afternoon at 11:00 a.m. CT (12:00 p.m. ET) from Tampa, Fla. The Lions will visit the Tampa Spartans who will enter the non-conference showdown ranked No. 3 in the Nike/US Lacrosse Poll, and No. 7 in the IWLCA Coaches Poll.
