A handful of members of the shotgun sports team competed at the Ducks Unlimited event March 4-8 at the Clark County Shooting Complex in Las Vegas.
Shabaz Bassi won the Preliminary Junior competition with a score of 92/100 and he finished 14
th overall.
Michael Blazek finished third in the Junior event with a score of 90, Tristan Stubbs took fifth in the Junior event and he won Class A competition with 88/100, and
Sam Korbs finished seventh in Junior competition with a score of 84.
Bassi performed well in the 200 target Main event, hitting 181. That was enough to win the Junior event and finish eighth overall. Stubbs hit 178/200 to finish second in Junior competition and win the Class A division. Blazek took third in the Junior event and 15
th overall with 176, and Korbs finished fifth in the Junior event with 160.
Brennan Lirette hit 175/200 for 18
th overall.
Only three participated in 5-Stand with Stubbs taking first place in the Junior division and first in the Class A division with 42/50. Bassi hit 38/50 to finish third in Junior competition and Blazek finished 14
th overall with a score of 43/50.
The shotgun sports team embarks on a nationals practice trip March 10-14. The Lions will visit Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Waco, Texas. The 2020 ACUI Collegiate Clay Target National Championship is scheduled March 23-28 at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio.
