Shotgun sports took second overall at the ACUI/SCTP Central Midwest Conference Championships October 13-15 at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex in Sparta, Illinois. The Lions totaled 2,171 out of 2,250 targets to finish just four behind event champions Hillsdale College. Lindenwood won two of the six team events, took second in three events, and finished third in the final event of the weekend with multiple athletes earning individual medals.
The Lions took second in Doubles Skeet, finishing two targets behind Hillsdale with a total of 243/250.

Matthew Blankenship (48), and Matthew Lorio (48) all contributed scores for Lindenwood. Individually, Williams took second in the men's category after a shoot-off with Davis Hay from Hillsdale.
The Lions won the Double Trap event with a score of 243/250.
Jacob Diller (49), Samuel Gilman (49),
Wyatt Quick (49),
Landon Sievers (48), and
Matthew Keist (48) contributed scores to secure the win. Individually, Diller and Gilman took second and third respectively with scores of 49.
In Super-Sporting,
Ben Warwick (49),
Jake Deane (48),
Christian Jackowski (48), Sparks (48), and
Trace Hatfield (47) shot 240 overall to take second as a team for Lindenwood. The Lions came up just one target short of Hillsdale. Individually, Corselli shot 46 out of 50 to finish as Ladies runner-up.
Lindenwood took the team title in Sporting Clays with Deane (95),
Brett Pray (92),
Konnor Vohs (92), Lorio (92), and
Ryan Pena (91) combined for a score of 462. Individually, Deane tied with Davis Hay for second and ultimately won that position after a shoot-off. Corselli shot a score of 89 to take Ladies runner-up.
In American Skeet, Pena (99), Vohs (98), Sparks (98), Quick (98), and
Vanessa Donato (97) combined for 490 to take second in team. Individually, Pena and Donato finished third in men's and women's competition respectively after shoot-offs.
The Lions finished third in American Trap with Hatfield (100),
Tristan Stubbs (99), Quick (99),
Klayton McGee (98), and Diller (97) combining for 493/500. Individually, Hatfield tied for first with three other athletes, and ultimately took third place after a shoot-off.
The ACUI Central Midwest Conference Championships are part of the Collegiate Shotgun Bowl Series and featured 24 teams from the region.
Shotgun sports travels to San Antonio, Texas for the NSCA National Championships October 21-24 at the National Shooting Complex.
