Several members of the shotgun sports team posted great performances at the Missouri Fall Handicap Championships September 23-24 at the MTA Trapshooting facility in Linn Creek, Missouri.
First-year Lion
Aidan Master shot a perfect 200 to claim the overall title in the Robert L. Burg Memorial Singles Championship. The event went to a shoot-off where he ultimately shot 24/25 to get the victory. In other action, sophomore
Jacob Diller finished as AAA Runner-up with a score of 198, Bradley Phillips won B Class with 197, and freshman
Sage McKeough was victorious in the Lady 1 category with 196. Finally, freshman
Wyatt Baine finished as the Junior Gold Runner-up with 199/200 after he entered a shoot-off with
Wyatt Williams,
Landon Sievers, and
Ryan Kraemer to decide the final positions.
In the Missouri Doubles Championship, freshman
Jordan Ziercher won the title in a shoot-off after posting a perfect score of 100. Lindenwood alum and current volunteer coach
Patrick Hopson took the AAA Championship with a score of 99,
Kelan Kinion posted 97/100 to claim the A Class title, and Matthew Lirio earned the B Class championship with 96/100. Bailey Leuders won the Lady 1 championship with 97/100, topping Hanah Hopson by two targets. Diller and Williams finished as Junior Gold Champion and Runner-up respectively after the two Lions entered a shoot-off.
In the White Flyer Handicap event, freshman
Maddie Caston finished as the 19 to 20.5 yard Runner-up with a score of 95. Williams hit 96/100 to enter a shoot-off in the 27-yard line event with five other competitors. He posted a pair of 24/25 scores to finish as Runner-up.
A total of 30 different Lions competed in the event, which is one of the most well-known and longest running in the area.
Shotgun sports returns to the range for the Lindenwood Open September 29 through October 1. Competition at the home event begins at 8 a.m. Friday at the Gateway Gun Club in Hazelwood, Missouri.
