The Lindenwood men's and women's tennis teams lost to Newman on Saturday in Wichita, Kan. The men's team (4-2) lost 4-2, while the women's squad (3-3) lost 6-1 to the Jets.
Juan Pablo Herrera earned a tally for the men's team, as he won by scores of 6-4 and 6-2, respectively.
Ignacio Mercado was able to secure another point for the team, and he won by identical scores of 6-4 in his match.
Hector Horcajada and Herrera were able to secure one victory in doubles competition, winning their match by a 6-4 margin.
On the women's side,
Natalia Cordero battled from behind in her match after falling 6-3 in her opening set. Cordero put together back-to-back set wins of 6-1 and 6-4, respectively to win her match. The Lions picked up one victory in doubles play, as
Dana Minakova and
Laura Castro Milan won by a final of 6-4.
The men's team will return to the court on March 18 to play host to Missouri Valley College at 1:00 p.m. at the Lindenwood Tennis Courts in St. Charles, Mo. The women's team will head to Kansas City, Mo. on March 20, as they take on Rockhurst University at 1:00 p.m.
