Shotgun sports edged Fort Hays State University by five targets to claim the High Overall Team title February 6-7 at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, Texas. The Lions totaled 1,468 compared to 1,463 for the Tigers. Schreiner University finished third on a tiebreaker with 1,444.
Lindenwood captured two of the three major team events, finishing first in American Skeet and Sporting Clays.

Sam Korbs (98), and
Matthew Blankenship (97) totaled 491 in American Skeet to top Fort Hays State by two targets. In Sporting Clays,
Michael Blazek (99), Korbs (97), Blankenship (97),
Shawn Hale (96), and Sparks (94) totaled 483 to once again finish ahead of the Mavericks, this time by five targets.
The Lions took third in the American Trap team standings with 494/500, finishing just two targets behind Fort Hays in first and one behind Schreiner in second. Korbs (100),
Collin Murer (99), Blazek (99),
Bret Crigler (98), and
Ryan Loveless combined for the Lindenwood total.
Individually, the Lions claimed three of the top eight spots in the High Overall Combined event. Korbs took first with 295/300, Blazek ranked fifth with 294, and Sparks finished eighth with 291.
Lindenwood took three of the top four positions in the Women's High Overall Combined event, led by
Jolene Dawson in second with 275/300. She was followed by
Tylee Totenbier in third with 272, and
Ashleigh Painter in fourth with 271.
The Lions placed two in the top four in the American Skeet individual rankings. Sparks and Stone finished third and fourth respectively with 99/100, based on tiebreakers.
In American Trap, Korbs was the high Lindenwood individual with 100 to take fifth after tiebreakers. Dawson hit 96/100 to finish fifth in the Women's American Trap standings.
In the Sporting Clays individual competition, Blazek finished first with 99, Blankenship took fifth with 97, and Korbs was eighth.
Shotgun sports travels to Diamond, Missouri February 16-18 for the Diamond Indoor Range Shoot.
