No. 2 Women's Lacrosse Prepares For NCAA Postseason

The No. 2 Lindenwood women's lacrosse team (13-1, 7-0 GLVC) enters the NCAA Tournament as the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Region.   This marks the seventh-consecutive year the Lions have reached the NCAA postseason, the longest current streak in DII.

Lindenwood will take on third-seed Regis tomorrow, beginning at 12:00 p.m. from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.  The Lions and Ranger met earlier this season in what was a 13-10 comeback win for the Lions back on February 27th.

In the win, the Lions were stout defensively, causing 15 turnovers, while holding Regis to just 25 shots. Cam Holley made a career-high 10 saves, including some big ones down the stretch to help seal the victory. Lindenwood also scooped up 26 ground balls as a team.

Offensively, Lindenwood had four players register multi-goal games, led by Erin McGuire who compiled a team-high four.  The Westminster, Md. native also added two assists. So far this season, McGuire leads the team in goals (34), assists (41) and points (75).

Across 14 games this season, Lindenwood has outscored opponents 244-101, entering the tournament with a scoring margin of 10.21, the seventh best mark in the country. On the offensive side of the ball, the Lions are averaging 17.43 goals per game, which ranks seventh nationally. Lindenwood ranks 11th in the country in scoring defense, surrendering just 7.21 goals per contest.

The winner of the Friday afternoon game will take on top-seeded UIndy in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals, which is set for Sunday, May 16 at 12:00 p.m. from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
