Shotgun Sports Earns Team High Overall Title; Multiple Individual Awards at NCSSAA Regional Qualifier

Shotgun sports earned the team High Overall title and multiple individual and team awards at the NCSSAA Central Region Qualifier November 4-6 at the Ark Valley Gun Club in Wichita, Kansas.
 
In American Trap, Kelan Kinion (100), Jacob Diller (99), Trace Hatfield (99), Ryan Kraemer (99), and Wyatt Newby (98) combined for a score of 495/500 to win the team title. Matthew Blankenship, Newby, Jake Deane, Ethan Mathias, Bradley Phillips, and Klayton McGee all shot 98/100 for the fifth score of the team total.  
 
In American Skeet, Christian Jackowski (99), Ryan Loveless (99), Ethan Mathias (97), Reece Sparks (97), and Tristan Stubbs (97) shot a collective 489/500 to finish second in the team event. Fort Hays State University edged the Lions by three targets to win the team title in the event. Jackowski and Loveless were involved in an intense six-man shoot-off to decide the individual men's champion, with Jackowski ultimately finishing as runner-up.  
 
In Sporting Clays, Matthew Blankenship (92), Christian Jackowski (91), Reece Sparks (89), Tristan Stubbs (89), and Kelan Kinion (87) combined for 448/500 to finish second in the team event, just two targets behind Midland University. Katelynn Decker entered a head-to-head shoot off with Remini Huguenot for the Women's Sporting Clays title, and ultimately edged Huguenot by two targets. Casey Byrd finished third outright in the event.  
 
Shotgun sports will take the annual winter break and return to action February 25-26 to host the home shoot with competition taking place at the Gateway Gun Club in Bridgeton, Missouri and Nilo Farms in Brighton, Illinois.
