The Lindenwood women's wrestling program returned to mat on Saturday for the Bearcat Open hosted at McKendree University. The open style tournament features one of the deepest fields in women's wrestling as the competitors gear up for regionals that is next weekend.
The highlight of the day was Lindenwood freshman
Cayden Condit who went 5-1 in the 123 pound weight class on the day and won the Consolation Championship finishing in 3
rd place. Condit's five victories included three tech falls and two pins. In her only loss, the score ended 3-3, but the McKendree wrestler was declared the winner based on criteria of having scored the last points.
Highlights from the Bearcat Open
- In the 130 weight class, Jasmine Ward went 3-1 on the day including a repeat win over Esther Levendusky who Ward defeated last night in a dual with McKendree
- Athena Willden went 2-2 on the day at 136, with both of her wins coming by fall
- Justice Seely went 2-2 with a pin and a technical fall win
- At 191, Kaycee Fitero went 2-2
Next up for the Lions is the Southwest Regional Championships which will be held in Lebanon, Illinois on February 20.
