Shotgun sports won multiple titles at the Amateur Trapshooters Association (ATA) Spring Grand American Championship in Tucson, Arizona February February 18-21. The Lions earned multiple victories in the Doubles, Singles, and Handicap Championships.
Senior trap captain
Ethan Boyer shot a near perfect 199/200 to advance to a shoot-off to crown the Junior-Gold Division champion. Boyer hit 99/100 in the shoot-off to win the event. Freshman
Matthew Keist and
Ryan Kraemer both shot 198/200 to win B and AA class respectively, and sophomore
Jolene Dawson hit 197/200 targets to claim the Lady 1 Division title.
In the Handicap Championship, Boyer and Keist both tied for the high score in Junior-Gold with 97/100. Boyer and Keist advanced to a shoot-off for the champion title, where Boyer shot 24/25 to claim victory while Keist took runner-up with 23/25.
In the Doubles event, freshman
Kelan Kinion hit 97/100 to advance to a shoot-off for Junior Gold runner up. Kinion won the shoot-off, breaking one more target than his competitor.
Shotgun sports hosts its home shoot February 26-27 at the Gateway Gun Club in Bridgeton, Missouri.
