The No. 7 women's wrestling team competed at the North Central College Open on Sunday in Naperville, Ill.
Sara Lake was the eventual champion in the 207-pound weight class.
OVERVIEW
Lake won every match by decision, defeating Alivia White from the top-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes in the final. For Lake, it is her first championship of the season. The Black and Gold also brought home multiple consolation titles:
Caitlin Reiter,
Cayden Condit, and
Makayla Rivera all grabbed the top spot in their respective consolation brackets.
After falling in her first match, Reiter won the next four, all by pin to take first-place at 117. The four pins were tied for the most in the field, all coming in the span of 7:24. Rivera also picked up four falls on the day, earning the consolation championship at 180 pounds,
Condit continues her strong season, as the No. 8 ranked wrestler at 131 pounds took home the consolation championship. Condit won her last four matches of the afternoon to come back and take the consolation.
Rebecca Strong finished in second place in the consolation bracket at 145. Another top finisher was
Kaitlyn Mossinghoff who took fourth place at 180.
Overall, Lindenwood wrestlers went 40-24 on the day on the way to a fifth-place finish among 30 teams. The Lions compiled 93.5 total points behind four schools in the top-five of the rankings.
UP NEXT
Lindenwood will participate in the Midlands Championships on December 30 in Hoffman Estates, Ill. The competition is set to begin at 9:00 a.m.
