MARSHALL, Mo. – The Lindenwood women's wrestling team competed at the Missouri Valley Open this weekend, with
Jacinda Espinosa placing fourth in the 138 lb. weight class.
Espinosa won her first three matches of the event, taking decisions over The University of the Cumberlands' Ruth Jiminez (4-3) and Quincy's Madeline Barton (6-4) with a 10-0 (TF 1:16) victory over the University of Saint Mary's Gwendolyn Musser.
Following a 12-1 (TF 4:35) loss to Texas Wesleyan's Samantha Barragan, Espinosa fought her way back through the consolation bracket with wins over Tarleton State's Piper Pike (10-0, TF 2:31), Maci Avila of Midland (FOR), and Serenity De La Garza of Missouri Valley (8-8, Fall 2:31).
In the third-place bout, Espinosa rematched with Barragan but fell 10-0 (TF 3:52) to finish fourth place.
Overall, the Lions went 23-24 at the event and recorded 13 falls, with
Makayla Rivera posting a team-high four pins at 180.
