CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -Â Lindenwood beach volleyball (5-3, 0-0 OVC) will play in their final non-conference tournament of the season when they travel to Clarksville, Tenn. for the Governors Classic hosted by Austin Peay. The Lions will play four matches across the weekend starting on Friday, March 7th at 12:00 p.m. CT.
Lindenwood will face a familiar for this season as they take on Central Arkansas (3-5) for two matches, one on each day. The Lions fell just short against the Sugar Bears losing 2-3 in a tightly contested match. LU will also face the home team Austin Peay (1-5, 0-0 ASUN) for two matches. In their history, Lindenwood has never defeated Austin Peay.
Last Weekend Recap
Lindenwood split their last four matches at the Beach Bear Bash in Ozark, Mo. hosted by Missouri State. The Lions started their first two weekends off in Ozark, Mo. posting an overall record of 5-3. LU played four schools last weekend resulting in a 2-2 record.
On Friday, Lindenwood picked up a 5-0 sweep of Hendrix College marking the second time this season the Lions have swept the Warriors. They also fell on Friday 0-5 against the home team Missouri State. LU then lost a five-set match against Central Arkansas on Day Two before defeating Southwest Baptist by a score of 5-0.
Preseason Predicted Order of Finish
The Mocs of Chattanooga were selected to finish in first receiving 10 of the 12 first-place votes as voted on by the head coaches and sports information directors. UT Martin finished in second after receiving 41 total points and two first-place votes. Lindenwood, Morehead State, Tennessee Tech and Eastern Illinois round out the final four in the predicted order of finish.Â
The OVC also released a list of Preseason Players to Watch which included Lindenwood's very ownÂ
Abby VanBuskirk. Primarily in the number four pair a season ago, VanBuskirk ended the season with a 6-6 record including a 5-6 record in the fours and a 1-0 record in the threes. At the 2024 OVC Beach Volleyball Championships, VanBuskirk went 3-3 including wins in the two matches leading up to the Championship match.
Head Coach:Â Alli Duckworth
In her third season as head coach, Duckworth led the Lions to a 16-10 record a season ago while reaching the OVC Championship match. Duckworth has a combined record of 24-24 over her first two seasons at the helm.

Katie Bockhorst at the third annual AVCA Beach National Championships in Huntsville, Ala. at The John Hunt Park Sand Volleyball Complex. The Lions were one of 64 teams invited to this year's event.
The pairs championship includes the top pairs in the country and the top performers from many of the beach programs. Based upon the spring season, Lindenwood qualified for this year's event after making the Ohio Valley Conference Championship match last April with a 16-10 overall record.
