It was announced on Tuesday that
Jose Vargas of the Lindenwood men's volleyball team was named Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
In a pair of four-set wins over Queens, Vargas dished out a total of 105 assists, good for 13.13 assist per set. The San Jaun Puerto Rico native compiled a career-high 57 assist in game one over the Royals and followed it up with 48 more in the regular season finale on Saturday.
Vargas was also strong on the defensive end, registering a total of 14 digs across the two wins, with seven coming in each match. He finished the weekend with five kills and two services aces.
Vargas and the rest of the Lions will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Columbus, Ohio for the MIVA Quarterfinals against No. 15 Ohio State. The first serve is set for 4:00 p.m. CT
