OZARK, Mo. – The Lindenwood beach volleyball team (1-1, 0-0 OVC) opened the 2026 season on Friday, going 1-1 on day one of the Missouri State Tournament. The Lions discarded Eastern Illinois 5-0 in a non-conference clash between the two OVC rivals before falling 1-4 against Missouri State.
How it Happened
In the season opener, three of Lindenwood's five pairs won in straight sets, including
Abby Jacobs and
Annalie McWhorter at the ones (21-14, 21-15),
Gabby Belcher and
Susanna Beretti at the twos (23-21, 23-21), and
Dixie Farish and
Myah Hough at the fives (21-17, 21-17).
Meanwhile, the Lions picked up a pair of 2-1 victories, with
Katie Bockhorst and
Jade Roth prevailing at the threes (21-16, 17-21, 15-12) while
Aubrey Sheppard and
Lexie Schauffler took the fours (21-14, 14-21, 6-15).
In the afternoon match against Missouri State,
Nyah Wilson and
Susanna Beretti were responsible for Lindenwood's lone point, picking up a 2-1 win at the twos (11-21, 21-14, 15-12). LU's remaining four pairs all fell in straight sets.
Next Up
Lindenwood concludes play at the Missouri State Tournament on Saturday. The Lions will face Central Arkansas at 10:00 a.m. followed by McKendree at 4:00 p.m.
