COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindenwood women's wrestling team enjoyed a successful outing at the Lindsey Wilson Open on Saturday, with five Lions registering podium finishes, including a pair of gold medal winners.
Meet Overview
Sienna Caruso brought home Lindenwood's first top three finish of the event, taking second place at 103 after going 3-1 on the day.
Kate Cooper was next to the podium, going 4-0 with three technical falls and a decision to secure a first-place finish.
At 117,
Ally Jelinek kept the momentum rolling with a third-place finish, posting a 4-1 record with two falls, including a pin at 0:56 of the third-place match. Meanwhile,
Jacinda Espinosa became the Lions' second champion of the day with a dominant three-pin performance at 138.
Alana Duggan rounded out the big day with a second-place finish at 160. She went 3-1 with a fall in the quarterfinals.
Allison Meyer (124) and
Talia Lee (131) also had strong performances, placing fourth in their respective weight classes.
Lindenwood wrestlers went a combined 29-14 at the event while combining for fourteen falls.
Allison Meyer led all Lions with four pins.
Next Up
Next up for Lindenwood is the NCAA Region VI Championships, which will be hosted at Hyland Arena. The top three placers from each weight class will advance to the National Championships in March. The regional is set to get underway at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21
st.
