Lilly Peters of the Lindenwood track and field team has been earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors as announced on Tuesday.
Peters competed in the NCAA West Prelims in Fayetteville Ark. finishing 38
th in the Javelin Throw, becoming Lindenwood's first track and field athlete to compete at NCAA's since moving to Division I.
Peters has had an outstanding outdoor campaign, finishing in the top five in the Javelin six times, including four first place finishes. One of those first-place finishes came at the Drake Relays where she threw 47.97m, taking the top spot and breaking the school record. The Hamburg, Iowa native also set the new school record at the Cougar Classic in April.
The sophomore capped off her outdoor season with a title at the OVC Championships, throwing a distance of 46.56m, earning first in a field of 13 competitors.
In order to earn the honor, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better and have either attained a Top-50 individual performance at the 2024 NCAA regional competition or a top 50 regional ranking in a single event in either indoor or outdoor track and field.Â
In the classroom, Peters carried a 4.0 while majoring in Elementary Education.
