The Lindenwood women's golf team won its own tournament on Friday, taking the title by 20 shots over the runner-up St. Francis.
The Lady Lions shot a 341 during Thursday's opening round and had a one shot lead over St. Francis. On Friday, Lindenwood ran away with the title by shooting a 321, 19 shots better than St. Francis shot on the day. The Lady Lions ended with a 662 and won the event that also included Quincy, Wheaton, Mount Mercy, Park, William Jewell, and Missouri Baptist.
Abigail Beirne led Lindenwood at the event and she finished second overall. She shot an 81 on Thursday and then carded a 76 on Friday, the lowest round of the entire tournament. Her 157 was two shots behind the medalist.
Marcella Ax also improved her score by five shots in the second round. She broke 80 with a 79 and finished tied for fifth overall with a 163.
Julieta Rotzinger also had a top 10 individual finish by coming in ninth with a 170.
Mallory Gentry helped seal the team title by shooting an 82 on Friday, eight shots better than her first round score. She tied for 11th with a 172. The final member of the team was
Kasey McCammack who tied for 17th with a 182. McCammack, like the rest of her teammates, improved her score on the final day of action.
