Women's Golf Has Second Runner-Up Finish During Its Fall Season

The women's golf team finished second at the Oklahoma Baptist Fall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday in Shawnee, Okla. Marcella Ax led the team and finished tied for second overall.

Lindenwood led the event after shooting a 355 during the first 18 holes. The Lady Lions improved their score by seven shots on Tuesday. Rogers State, however, improved by 22 shots and overtook Lindenwood. Rogers State ended with a 698, five shots better than the Lady Lions' 703. Oklahoma Baptist finished just behind the Lady Lions with a 704. The three remaining teams, Park, Northwestern Oklahoma State, and Seminole State CC were further back in the pack.

Ax opened the tournament with an 89 and then shot a 79 on Tuesday. The 79 was the second-best round in the whole event. Ax's final score of 166 was two shots behind the medalist. Julieta Rotzinger also finished in the top five after shooting rounds of 82 and 89.

Sarah Fraser was 12th in the field with a 181, including an 86 on day one. Kasey McCammack finished one spot and four strokes behind Fraser. Her best round at the tournament was an 85 on day two. Jillian Eader rounded out the Lindenwood roster with a 206.

Lindenwood is in action again on Oct. 10-11 at the Trevecca Nationwide Invitational.
