The No. 19 Lindenwood women's golf team won the HAAC Championship by 88 shots on Tuesday afternoon in Lawrence, Kan. The title was the 12th straight victory for the Lady Lions in the conference competition.
Marcella Ax was the individual medalist, the second time in her career that she shot the lowest score in the HAAC Championship.
Lindenwood dominated the competition after shooting rounds of 331 and 347. The Lady Lions led by 52 strokes after day one and extended that advantage on day two. Lindenwood finished with a two-day total of 678, defeating runner-up Baker who had a 766.
Individually, Lindenwood had four all-conference golfers as its top four golfers all finished in the top five of the standings. Ax shot an 81 in the first round and trailed teammate Megan Burgress by one shot. Ax shot an 82 on the second day, compared to an 87 for Burgress, and won the event by four shots after aa total of 163. Burgress was runner-up with a 167.
Julieta Rotzinger shot rounds of 83 and 87 and had a third-place showing with a 170.
Kasey McCammack shot 178 for the tournament and placed fifth. Rounding out the team was
Justine Decock who carded a 199 and came in 14th-place.
With the win, Lindenwood advances to the NAIA National Championship, which will take place on May 17-20 in Greeneville, Tenn.
