Lindenwood Sweeps Team And Individual Titles At Lady Lions Invitational

The Lindenwood women's golf team had a very successful Lady Lions Invitational, sweeping the team and individual titles at its own event at Whitmoor Country Club.

Lindenwood was in a tight three-way race after the first round when it shot a 337, one shot better than Maryville and Nebraska-Kearney. The Lady Lions pulled away though on day two. Lindenwood shot a 339, 12 shots better than Maryville and 29 better than Nebraska-Kearney.

The individual competition followed a similar pattern. Lindenwood's Abigail Beirne led after 18 holes with a score of 79. She had just a two-shot lead though over Maryville's Mycah Hudson and a three-shot advantage of Lincoln's Kaitlyn Schwartze. In round two, Beirne was able to just hang on to the lead. She shot an 83 and won the tournament by one shot over Schwartze, who closed with an 81.

Lindenwood's Alanna Haynes tied for fourth with a two-round score of 168. She shot a 79 during the second round which was the low score of the day. Two other Lady Lions also finished in the top-10 as Julieta Rotzinger and Maddy Piccininni tied for ninth with a 173. Rounding out the team was Ashtin Withers who shot a 194.

Several Lady Lions also competed as individuals, led by Sydney Hawley with a 180. Other scores were Jill Eader with a 187, Shelby Soutier with a 195, Isabel Mersch with a 200, and Sarah Fraser with a 232.

Lindenwood concluded its fall season with this tournament.
