Women's Golf Kicks Off 2013 Season At PLNU San Diego Championship

The Lindenwood women's golf team kicked off the 2013 season at the Point Loma Nazarene University Super San Diego Championship on Monday and Tuesday. After carding a 349 in round one, the Lady Lions improved on day two, turning in a team score of 337. The two-day total of 686 put the Lady Lions in 14th place at the 20-team tournament.
 
Junior Julieta Rotzinger led the Lady Lions for the tournament, posting 80 in the first round and following that up with an 84 in round two. Her two-day score of 164 put her in a tie for 31st place overall.
 
Alanna Haynes had the low round on the Lindenwood squad on day two, turning in an 83. She scored an 89 on day one that put her in a tie for 62nd place. Abigail Beirne posted rounds of 89 and 86, Madelyn Piccininni carded a 91 and 84, and Sydney Hawley rounded out the five-man team with rounds of 93 and 91.
 
CSU-San Marcos won the tournament with a two-day total of 626, eight strokes ahead of Grand Canyon in second place. Megan Woodland from Victoria garnered medalist honors with a two-day total of 149. Spencer Heller from Sonoma State finished in second, just one stroke behind Woodland.
 
Lindenwood will take a couple weeks off before traveling to Edmond, Okla. for the Southern Nazarene Invitational on March 4 and 5.
