The Lindenwood women's golf team had its Perry Park Spring Fling cut short on Sunday due to weather conditions. The Lady Lions competed in a 36-hole event on Saturday, turning in team scores of 329 and 327. Those scores were good enough to finish in a tie for tenth overall with Wheeling Jesuit in the 24-team tournament.
Alanna Haynes was the top Lindenwood finisher in the event, carding rounds of 75 and 80 for an 11
th-place finish. Haynes' round of 75 was her lowest score of the 2012-13 season.
Julieta Rotzinger turned in consistent rounds of 82 and 80 for a 32rd-place finish.
Madelyn Piccininni finished with rounds of 83 and 88,
Abigail Beirne had rounds of 89 and 84, and
Sydney Hawley rounded out the Lindenwood squad with rounds of 95 and 83.
Abby Vorreyer of Illinois-Springfield was the medalist at the event, turning in a round one 77 and backing that score up with an even-par 72 in round two. Findlay's Lauren Vogt, Merrimack's Ali Reed, and Indy's Chanice Young all finished in a tie for second with a two-day total of 150.
Indinapolis won the tournament with a two-round total of 611, 17 strokes ahead of Findlay and Ashland in second place. Lindenwood finished one stroke behind Marrimack for ninth and 11 strokes behind Southern Indiana for eighth.
The Lady Lions will take a couple of weeks off before traveling across town to the Maryville Spring Invitational on April 7-8.
