The Lindenwood women's golf team finished in sixth place overall at the 14-team UMSL Triton Invitational after play on Sunday and Monday. The Lady Lions turned in rounds of 342 and 338 in the two-day tournament.
After a round one 82 on Sunday, freshman
Alanna Haynes carded a 76 in round two to finish in a tie for fifth place overall at the event.
Abigail Beirne turned in a pair of 86's,
Julieta Rotzinger finished with an 88 and an 86,
Madelyn Piccininni had an 86 and a 90 and
Ashtin Withers rounded out the Lindenwood top-five with back-to-back rounds of 93.
Sydney Hawley competed as an individual in the event, finishing in a tie for 51
st place with rounds of 87 and 95.
Grand Valley State took the team honors after firing rounds of 319 and 311 for a total of 630. MIAA opponent Northeastern State finished 13 strokes behind Grand Valley State, turning in rounds of 319 and 324 at the event.
Kelly Hartigan of Grand Valley State was the medalist at the event, turning in rounds of 74 and 73 in the two-day event. Whitney McAteer of Northeastern State finished six strokes behind Hartigan with 153 and Taylor Hoag of host school Missouri-St. Louis finished in third with a 156 two-day total.
The Lady Lions will take the remainder of the week off before traveling to Smithville, Mo. for the MIAA Championships held on the Posse Course at Paradise Pointe Golf Club on April 22 and 23.
