The Lindenwood women's golf team concluded its fall season with a second-place finish at the Maryville Fall Invitational. The two-round tournament took place at the Annbriar Golf Club in Waterloo, Ill. and featured 10 competing teams and 63 competing golfers.
The Lady Lions opened play with a first-round score of 312 and were in third-place after the first 18 holes. Lindenwood lowered its score by three strokes during round two and finished in second-place with a final score of 621. Southern Indiana edged out Lindenwood by one stroke to win the tournament. Illinois-Springfield finished one stroke behind Lindenwood in third-place.
Natalie Long was the top finisher for Lindenwood, tying for fourth-place. Long posted scores of 75 and 78 to earn her second top-five finish of the season. Long paced the Lady Lions with a team-leading five birdies.
Dakota Limkemann and
Yolanda Rotzinger both finished one stroke behind Long, tying for seventh-place. Following a first round score of 80, Limkemann fired a 74 during the second round. Limkemann tied for the tournament lead with 28 pars. Rotzinger posted back-to-back scores of 77, aided by her 25 pars.
Maggie Bryant tied for 17th-place following her score of 160. Bryant now has two top-20 finishes this season.
Reagan Snavely and
Josefina Haupt finished one stroke apart, tying for 33rd and 35th-place, respectively.
Following its second-place finish, Lindenwood ends its five tournament fall season with three top-two finishes, and two tournament victories. The Lady Lions will resume play on March 7-8, 2017 at the Southwest Minnesota Spring Invitational in Litchfield, Ariz.
