The Lindenwood women's golf team opened their spring season with a fourth-place finish at the Las Vegas Desert Classic in Las Vegas, Nev. The two-round tournament, hosted by the University of Missouri-St. Louis, stretched over two-days and included 12 competing teams. Play wrapped up on Monday afternoon.
The Lady Lions completed the two-round event with a total team score of 639, just one-stroke ahead of fifth-place Embry Riddle (Ariz.). Central Oklahoma won the tournament with a two-round total score of 612, 12 strokes ahead of second-place finisher Missouri-St. Louis. The Lady Lions opened play on Sunday with a team score of 316, which was followed by a second-round total of 323.
Yolanda Rotzinger paced the Lady Lions, finishing the tournament in ninth-place amongst the 62 competing golfers. Rotzinger ended the first-round with a team-low score of 76, and shot a team-low 157 for the tournament. Finishing slightly behind Rotzinger was
Dakota Limkemann, who wrapped up play tied for 12th place. Limkemann posted rounds of 78 and 81 for a final score of 159.
Alanna Haynes and
Madelyn Piccininni ended the tournament with scores of 161 and 162, finishing T-23 and 26th, respectively.
Maggie Bryant also competed for the Lady Lions in the tournament.
The Lady Lions will next be in action on March 9-10 at the Southwest Minnesota Spring Invitational. The two-day event will be held at the Wigwam Heritage Course in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
