The Lindenwood women's golf team opened the fall portion of its 2016-17 schedule with a first-place finish at the Lindenwood-Belleville Fall Tournament. The tournament was hosted by Lindenwood-Belleville, and was held at the Stonewolf Golf Club in Fairview Heights, Ill. The two-round tournament featured six competing teams and 42 individuals.
The Lady Lions began the tournament with a first-round score of 309, placing the team in first-place after 18-holes. Lindenwood improved upon its first-round score by 18 strokes, posting a second-round score of 291. The Lady Lions finished the tournament with a total score of 600, placing them 55 strokes in front of second-place Columbia College.
Natalie Long was the top-performer for the Lady Lions, setting two school records during the tournament en route to a first-place finish. Long began the tournament with an opening round score of 77, leaving her tied for third-place after 18-holes. During round-two, Long fired a school-record 66, finishing with a two-round total of 143 strokes, also a school record. Long's second-round record-setting performance of 66 left her at -6 for the round and -1 for the tournament. Â
Dakota Limkemann finished in second-place, following her two-round score of 150. Limkemann shot rounds of 76 and 74. Finishing just behind Limkemann in third-place was
Yolanda Rotzinger. Rotzinger shot rounds of 77 and 74, for a two-round score of 151.
Josefina Haupt and
Kayleigh Stevens Perez finished tied for fourth-place, after posting identical scorecards in their first tournaments as Lady Lions. The freshman duo each shot first-round scores of 79, followed by second-round scores of 77.
Noelle Johnston finished in ninth-place after posting her best score of 78 during the second-round.
Maggie Bryant ended play in tenth-place, after also shooting a 78 during the second-round.
Alexandra Wheeler and
Reagan Snavely finished one-stroke apart, tying for 11th and 13th place, respectively.
The Lady Lions will return to action on Sep. 12-13 at the UIndy Fall Invitational. The two-round tournament will be held at Prarie Views Golf Club in Carmel, Ind.
