The Lindenwood women's golf team won its fourth tournament of the season on Sunday afternoon, finishing as the top team at the Maryville Spring Invitational. The two-round tournament, played at the Quarry at Crystal Springs in Maryland Heights, Mo., featured six competing teams and 35 individual golfers.
The Lady Lions opened the tournament on Saturday with a total score of 310, and held a three-stroke lead over second-place, William Jewell after the opening round. Lindenwood bested its first round total by 15 strokes during the final round of play, winning the tournament by a total of 27 strokes. Sotuthern Indiana sat in second place at the completion of the tournament with a score of 632.
Maggie Bryant and
Dakota Limkemann finished tied atop the individual leaderboard with two-round scores of 149. Bryant finished the first round with a score of 76, before shooting a 73 during the final round. Limkemann had her best score of 70 during the second round, besting her first round score of 79 by a total of nine strokes. Limkemann tied for the tournament lead with six birdies, while Bryant finished with five.
Yolanda Rotzinger tied for fourth place with a two-round total of 153. Rotzinger had her best round on Sunday, shooting a 73 during the final 18 holes. Rotzinger completed the tournament with 18 pars and four birdies.
Noelle Johnston competed as an individual and tied for sixth place. Johnston posted scores of 76 and 78 during her two rounds, highlighted by a team-leading 22 pars.
Natalie Long and
Josefina Haupt were separated by one stroke, with Long having sole possession of 10th place, and Haupt tying for 11th place. Long had her best round of 76 on Saturday, while Haupt shot back-to-back rounds of 79.
Alexandra Wheeler,
Reagan Snavely, and
Kayleigh Stevens Perez all competed as individuals. Wheeler tied for 14th place, while Snavely tied for the 19th spot.
Lindenwood will return to action on April 10-11 at the Central Region Spring Preview. The tournament, hosted by Arkansas Tech, will be played at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield, Mo.
