Limkemann Finishes First, Women’s Golf Takes Second at MIAA Championships

The Lindenwood women's golf team finished in second place at the MIAA Championships on Wednesday afternoon at Swope Memorial Golf Course in Kansas City, Mo. Sophomore Dakota Limkemann led the way for Lindenwood, winning the tournament's individual championship. The three-round tournament began on Monday afternoon, and featured 50 golfers from the 10 MIAA programs.

Round One:
After one round of play, first-place Northeastern State holds a nine-stroke lead over second-place, Central Oklahoma. Lindenwood sits in third place following its opening-round score of 334, four strokes behind Central Oklahoma. The Lady Lions hold a two-stroke edge over fourth-place, Missouri Western.

Limkemann fired a 77 on Monday, tying for first place among the 50 competing golfers. Limkemann tied for the tournament lead with 10 pars, while also registering two birdies.

Josefina Haupt and Yolanda Rotzinger finished separated by one stroke, tying for 12th and 15th place, respectively. Haupt recorded eight birdies and one par, while Rotzinger had six pars.

Round Two:
As it did on Monday afternoon, Lindenwood completed the tournament's second round with a total team score of 334. The Lady Lions trail third-place, Missouri Western by one stroke, while holding a one-stroke advantage over fifth-place, Central Missouri.

Limkemann posted a score of 79 on Tuesday, placing her in second place after 36 holes of play. Limkemann had nine pars and two birdies during her second round to remain within striking distance of the individual leader.

Following a second-round score of 83, Long is tied for 18th place with a two-round score of 171. One stroke behind Long, Bryant is in sole possession of 23rd place, owning a two-round score of 172. Rotzinger and Haupt are tied for 24th place, with matching two-round scores of 173.

Round Three:
Lindenwood had its best round of the tournament on Wednesday afternoon, shooting a team score of 313, 21 strokes lower than either of its first two rounds. Lindenwood's final round score of 313 was the lowest single-round score for any team during the tournament. The Lady Lions shot a 981 over the three-round tournament, four strokes in front of third-place, Central Oklahoma. Northeastern State was the tournament's top team, finishing with a total team score of 956.

Limkemann entered into the final round in second place, but finished as the tournament's individual champion. Limkemann shot a 75 during the final round of play, her best single-round score of the tournament, and completed the tournament with a three-round total score of 231. The West Point, Ill. native led all golfers with 31 pars during the tournament, while tying for third overall with six birdies.

Bryant had the best individual round of any Lady Lion at the tournament on Wednesday, shooting a 73 on the tournament's final day. Bryant completed the event tied for 11th place with a three-round total score of 245. Bryant had eight pars and five birdies on Wednesday, and led the tournament field with eight birdies for the week.

Rotzinger completed the tournament in 20th place, finishing third on the team. Rotzinger's final-round score of 82 was her best of the tournament, and brought her three-round score to 255. Haupt and Long finished one stroke in back of Rotzinger, posting three-round scores of 256. The duo of Haupt and Rotzinger finished tied for 23rd place.   

Lindenwood will learn its NCAA postseason fate next week when the tournament field is announced on May 1 at 3:00 p.m.
