The Lindenwood women's golf team finished tied for third place at the MIAA Fall Preview in Maryville, Mo. on Tuesday afternoon. Lindenwood posted a tournament-best score of 293 during Tuesday's final round to earn its first top-five finish of the season.
After a first-round score of 317 on Monday, the Lions lowered their score by 24 strokes on the tournament's final day to tie for third place with a final score of 610. Lindenwood tied with William Jewell and landed three strokes behind second-place, Northeastern State. Central Oklahoma won the event with a two-round score of 592.
Yolanda Rotzinger was Lindenwood's top-finisher, tying for ninth place. Rotzinger began play with a first-round score of 75, before shooting a 73 over the final 18 holes. Rotzinger totaled seven birdies, tied for the third-highest total in the 88-golfer field.
Kayleigh Stevens Perez tied for 17th place, completing the tournament with a two-round score of 153. Stevens Perez recorded her best score of 73 during Tuesday's final round, and led the team in pars for the tournament with 23.
Dakota Limkemann and
Josefina Haupt completed play separated by just two strokes. Limkemann landed in sole possession of 20th place, while Haupt tied for the 21st position.
Maggie Bryant (T-37th) and
Alexandra Wheeler (T-47th) also competed for Lindenwood.
The Lions will be back in action on Oct. 2-3 at the RCB Bank Classic in Edmond, Okla. The tournament will be held at The Golf Club of Edmond.
