The Lindenwood track and field team travelled to NCAA Division I Purdue on Saturday for the Gene Edmonds Open.

Samuel Yaro had the top finish for the Lions, coming in third in the 400m. He had a time of 49.76, just 0.35 seconds behind the winner and just fractions of a second behind two Big 10 runners.

Lindenwood's men's team had two top-five showings with
Akintunde Akinyemi in the high jump and
Kyle Stevison in the pole vault. Stevison was followed right behind by teammates
Matt Eaton and
Alex Hollingsworth. Bumnene Ndebele was eighth in the triple jump, and
Michael Mlambo had a top-10 finish in the long jump with the ninth-best mark.

On the women's side,
Regina Huesca-Barrales had the top finish by coming in fifth in the 600m. Other top-10 finishes were
Anna Tyan coming in eighth in the high jump and
Emily Montgomery finishing ninth in the weight throw.

Lindenwood will be in action next weekend at the John Craft Invitational in Charleston, Ill.
