Women’s Golf Concludes MIAA Championships in Second Place

The Lindenwood women's golf team finished in second place at the MIAA Championships on Wednesday afternoon from Swope Memorial Golf Course in Kansas City, Mo. The Lions have now had three top-two finishes in the last four MIAA Championship Tournaments dating back to the 2014-15 season. Maggie Bryant was the top finisher for Lindenwood, completing the event in third place.
 
Lindenwood had scores of 320, 328, and 310 during its three rounds to complete the event with a total score of 958. Lindenwood's final-round score of 310 was the best single-round score of any team at the tournament.
 
The Lions landed just one-stroke behind first-place, Central Oklahoma. Lindenwood distanced itself from the rest of the field with its impressive round on Wednesday, holding off third-place Central Oklahoma by six strokes.
 
As a team, Lindenwood has now had seven top-five finishes this season, while doing so in each of their last four tournaments.

Bryant earned her fifth top-five finish of the season, and completed the event with 25 pars and a team-high six birdies.
 
Limkemann had her best round of the tournament on Wednesday, firing a 75 over her final 18 holes, to move into sole possession of fourth place. Limkemann led the Lions with 28 pars over her three rounds of play to post her third top-five finish this season.
 
Rotzinger and Haupt completed the tournament tied for the 13th and 18th positions, respectively.
 
Snavely shot a 75 during her final round of play, finishing in 21st place. Snavely was one of just three golfers to fire an eagle during the tournament, doing so on the par-5 12th hole.

As of last week, Lindenwood was the seventh-ranked team in the NCAA Central Region, with the top 12 teams qualifying for the regional tournament. The 2018 Central Region Tournament will be held on May 7-9 at the Missouri Bluffs Golf Club in St. Charles, Mo.
