Lindenwood players McKenzie Hawkins and Joyce Taufa just completed the Women's Collegiate All-American 15's Development Camp June 19-24 at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire.
Hawkins, who returns as a senior this fall, described what went on at the camp.
"It had a lot of conditioning and contact and was exciting in that regard," she said. "Playing at Lindenwood prepared me mentally and physically for it. One of the biggest influences from playing at Lindenwood was the quickness in our game-play and what USA is implementing in the pathway."
Taufa, who also returns as a senior, echoed many of the same thoughts about the camp.
"I got to play with the girls I've played against and thought that was pretty cool," she said. Support was stressed on the field at all times and working quickly.
Those are focal point areas at Lindenwood as well and I made sure to do my best in those areas with the preparation I've had. I am grateful for the opportunity to attend camp and be surrounded by such great people."
A total of 48 players were invited to the camp and 43 attended. USA Rugby uses it to identify athletes that have potential to track to the 2021 World Cup, develop longer-term plans for players projecting to 2021, 2024, and 2025, and develop critical actions and behaviors for players needed to project to senior 15's.
