McKenna Montgomery Finishes Fourth, Women's Golf Places Seveth at UIndy Invite

The Lindenwood women's golf team closed out its opening tournament of 2020-21 with a seventh-place finish at the UIndy Fall Invite.  McKenna Montgomery led the Lions with a fourth-place finish at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel, Ind. on Tuesday.
 
DAY TWO OVERVIEW
Lindenwood shot at 336 in round three, bringing its tournament total to 974.  After shooting even par through two rounds on Monday, McKenna Montgomery posted a 78 on Tuesday to shoot six-over for the tournament.  Montgomery birdied back-to-back holes on seven and eight, but could not capitalize on the momentum for the remainder of the round.
 
Alexis Montgomery shot an 82, which bumped her up two spots for a 25th-place finish for the tournament.  The product of Maumelle High School shot a 38 on the front nine, which was the best for the Lions on the day through nine holes.  Addasyn Zeller dropped a couple of spots at the end of the tournament, as she shot an 84 to finish in 30th place.

DAY ONE OVERVIEW
The Lions compiled a score of 638 after the first day, as they posted scores of 325 and 313, respectively.  McKenna Montgomery was tied for third place after shooting a 74 in the first round with two birdies.  Montgomery shot four strokes better in the second round, posting four birdies to end the day in a tie for first-place.  The St. Louis, Mo. native birdied the par-5 13th hole twice on Monday, while her other four birdies came on four different holes throughout the day.
 
Alexis Montgomery finished in 27th place, after compiling a two-round score of 162.  The Maumelle, Ark. native posted 23 pars through her two rounds, ranking second on the team.  Zeller was just one stroke behind Montgomery with her total score of 163.  Becca Oertel struggled in her first round of the season after shooting a 91, but bounced back for an impressive improvement to a 78 in the second round.  In the second round, Oertel shot just one-over par on the back nine as she ended the day in a tie for 39th place.
 
McKenna Montgomery closed out the day in a tie with Anna Kramer of UIndy for first place, as each had a four-stroke improvement from the first to the second round.  Alexis Montgomery completed Monday just 10 strokes from cracking the top-10, while Zeller sat 11 strokes away.  UIndy led the tournament with a team score of 583, while five of its golfers ranked inside the top-10 after day one.
