Ferenc Tabbed CHA Goalie of the Week

College Hockey America (CHA) announced its weekly awards on Monday and Natalie Ferenc of the Lindenwood women's hockey team has earned CHA Goalie of the Week honors. This is the second time in her career she has won the award.

Ferenc had an historic game in the series opener against No. 5 Wisconsin over the weekend, compiling a career-high 66 saves. Not only were the 66 saves a career-best, but the fourth-highest single game total in conference history. Lindenwood netminders hold all top four spots on that list.

The West Bloomfield, Mich. native stopped 16 shots in the opening frame, getting stronger as the game went on. The senior netminder recorded 31 saves in the second period, setting a CHA record for the most saves a single period, topping the previous mark of 28. Through two starts this season, Ferenc ranks second in the conference with a .915 save percentage, while making an average of 48.5 saves per game, tops among CHA goaltenders.

Ferenc and the Lions will be back in action on October 28-29, as they take on No. 11 Penn State in the home-opening series. Puck drop in game one is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. from Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Mo.
