Behind four individual conference championship titles, the Lindenwood men's team won the GLVC indoor track and field championship on Sunday. The Lions scored 121.50 points to outpace Lewis who finished second with 112 team points.
Graduate student
Samuel Yaro continued his dominance on the track this year by winning the 200 meter, the 400 meter and running the anchor leg on the winning 4x400 meter relay team. Yaro, a returning All-American, was named GLVC Male co-Track Athlete of the Year following the meet.
Logan Kulinski won the weight throw on Saturday for the Lions other individual champion.
The women's team had two individual champions as
Olivia Alexandre won the 400 meters and the Lions won the 4x400 meter relay to vault them to a fifth place team finish.
Following the meet, Lindenwood head coach
David Nicholson was named GLVC Men's Coach of the Year and
Maxime Touron was named GLVC Male Freshman of the Year and honored as the Lindenwood recipient of the James R Spalding Sportsmanship Award.Â
Carina Chalmers won the Spalding Award for the Lindenwood women.
"Amazing end to the season!" said Nicholson. "The team really took the meet into their own hands and put themselves in a position to compete for a championship. It was great to see them clicking on all cylinders and to see every one of them put the weekend together."

Up next for the Lions is to see how their times stand up against national competition and they find out who has qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships held in Pittsburg, Kansas on March 11-12.
