The Lindenwood women's golf team shot a third-round best 307 on Saturday afternoon, earning the No. 2 seed in match play at the GLVC Women's Golf Championship in Waterloo, Ill. Third-seeded Missouri-St. Louis knocked off the Lions in the semifinals, however, winning match play, 3-1-1, to advance to Sunday's title round against UIndy.
Over 54 holes, the Lions (955) finished three strokes ahead of Missouri-St. Louis (958), while UIndy (928) claimed the top seed by 27 shots. Drury (998) snuck into match play as the fourth seed, just 10 strokes ahead of fifth-place Lewis.
Three Lions finished in the top 10 on the individual leaderboard, including
McKenna Montgomery (237) sharing sixth place.
Addasyn Zeller (238) and
Noelia Rodriguez Chicote (239) finished eighth and ninth, respectively. Montgomery was the lone Lion to win her individual matchup in the semis, while Rodriguez Chicote tied with her counterpart.
Lindenwood now awaits its fate for postseason play, which will be determined when the NCAA announces the final regional recipients on Monday, April 25. The Lions were slated seventh in the most recent East Regional rankings.
