The Lindenwood women's golf team captured fourth place at the OVC Championships this week in Muscle Shoals, Ala. The Lions compiled a team total of 947 across the three-day tournament.
OVERVIEW
In its first ever OVC Championship appearance, Lindenwood sat in third place after the first round. The Lions compiled a 321 as a team led by
Paula Mariana Sanchez who carded a 76, which put her in a tie for third after the opening 18. Sanchez compiled two birdies on the day.
Noelia Rodriguez Chicote also notched a pair of birdies on day one as she finished in a tie for 12th. All five Lindenwood golfers were inside the top 30 after the completion of the first round.
In round two, the Lions shot a 323 as a team, finishing three strokes back of third place Tennessee Tech. That score was led by Rodriguez Chicote who fired a 78, moving her up four spots on the leaderboard in a tie for eighth. Sanchez, along with
Kassidy Hull and
Addasyn Zeller were the three Lindenwood players to earn a birdie on the second day.
Lindenwood saved its best round of the entire season for last. On the last day, Lindenwood shot a 303, its best mark of any round on the year. The Lions were paced by a one-over 73 from Hull who compiled five birdies during the last 18, Hull would finish 10th. Sanchez compiled four birdies, carding a 77. The duo finished with seven birdies for the tournament, second most in the field.
