The Lindenwood women's golf team finished in seventh place with a team score of 910 at the Brittany Kelly Classic in Yorktown, Ind.
OVERVIEW
The Lions opened the tournament with an impressive team score of 297, which is lower than any round last season. Lindenwood was led by
Paula Mariana Sanchez and
Meredith Colby who each registered their collegiate low with a 72. To get to that score, Sanchez and Colby recorded four birdies apiece. Coming in just behind them was
Andrea Alvarez after she fired a 73, which included a two-under on the front nine. After 18 holes, Lindenwood sat in second place.
In round two, Lindenwood compiled a team score of 305, once again led by Sanchez who carded a 71, surpassing her collegiate low she set in round one. Through 36 holes, Sanchez led the field in par 4 scoring at 3.96 and paced the Lions in par 5 scoring at 4.50. Colby registered a 76 in the second round and so did Alvarez. The Lions finished day one in sixth place, individually, Sanchez ended the first two rounds in third place, while Colby was tied for 13
th.
To close out the tournament, Lindenwood shot a 308, led by
Andrea Alvarez who carded a 74, moving up three spots to a tie for 17
th.
Jamie Daniels carded the second-best score among Lindenwood golfers with a 77. Paula Sanchez closed out her tournament with a 78 to finish in a tie for 11
th. For the tournament, Colby was sixth in the field at par 3 scoring at 3.00. Paula Sanchez was strong on the par 4s, averaging a 4.00 and she finished the tournament with 35 pars overall.
