Beach Volleyball Goes 1-1 At Beach Bear Bash In Ozark, Mo.

Lions will play two more matches tomorrow

OZARK, Mo. - Lindenwood beach volleyball (4-2, 0-0 OVC) split their first two matches of the Beach Bear Bash hosted by Missouri State at Ozark Beach Volleyball. The Lions defeated Hendrix College (1-5) by a score of 5-0 before getting swept by Missouri State (6-0) to end the day.

Lindenwood - 5
Hendrix College - 0


Lindenwood started their day in the sand with a sweep of Hendrix College 5-0. Rebecca Janke and Aubrey Sheppard got the day started with a dominating win in the five pairs with scores of 21-6 and 21-6. This marked the lowest point total allowed by any pair this season.

Gabby Belcher and Taylor Gentemann kept the momentum going after winning 21-14 and 21-6 in the four pairs. Katie Bockhorst and Kaelyn Putz were also victorious in the three pairs winning in two sets with scores of 21-5 and 21-10.

Abby Jacobs and Annalie McWhorter responded from their last outing in the number two pair winning in two sets with scores od 21-16 and 21-14. Lindenwood's first match was wrapped up nicely in the ones after Nyah Wilson and Abby VanBuskirk defeated Hendrix's one pairs in three sets with scores of 21-18, 18-21 and 15-8.

Missouri State - 5


In Lindenwood's second match of the day, the Lions fell to the host school Missouri State by a final score of 5-0. Lindenwood is still searching for their first ever career win against Missouri State.

Sheppard and Janke went into extra points in the first set eventually losing by a score of 20-22. The number five pairs would go on to lose the second set by a final score of 10-21. Belcher and Gentemann also fell in the four pairs with score of 9-21 and 16-21.

Putz and Bockhorst would eventually fall in the number three pairs with scores of 21-11 and 21-15. Jacobs and McWhorter (14-21, 14-21) fell in the number two spot before the one pair of Wilson and VanBuskirk lost by scores of 15-21 and 19-21.

Lindenwood will be back in action on Saturday, March, 1st with two matches against Central Arkansas and Southwest Baptist. For more information go to lindenwoodlions.com.
