BELLEVILLE, Ill. - Lindenwood beach volleyball (7-6, 0-0 OVC) defeated McKendree (0-9) on Saturday during a windy match at the Silver Creek Sports & Social Courts in Belleville, Ill. The Lions move to a perfect 6-0 all-time against McKendree in just their third Division I season.
Rebecca Janke and
Aubrey Sheppard started the match in the number five pairs with a two set win by scores of 21-10 and 21-9.
Taylor Gentemann and Gebby Belcher continued the momentum picking up an impressive two set win in the fours by scores of 21-11 and 21-7.
In the threes,
Katie Bockhorst and
Kaelyn Putz were the third straight match to end in a two set victory with both scores finishing at 21-8. The win in the third set clinched the Lions' seventh victory of the season.
Abby Jacobs and
Annalie McWhorter picked up the fourth point of the match with a win in the two pairs with scores of 21-11 and 21-15.
Nyah Wilson and
Abby VanBuskirk ended the match with a 5-0 victory after capturing a 21-14 and 21-17 two set victory in the ones. This marked the fifth five set sweep for the Lions this season as they move to 7-6 on the season. Lindenwood and McKendree will also play at home at Evans Courts later this season on April 12th.
The Lions will start Ohio Valley Conference play next weekend at the first of two OVC Weekends. Lindenwood will play four matches hosted on the campus of UT Martin starting on Friday, March 21st at 8:00 a.m. CT against Tennessee Tech. For more information go to lindenwoodlions.com.
