The Lindenwood women's golf team captured its first tournament title at the Division I level after earning first place at the Nevel Mead Collegiate with a team score of 609.
OVERVIEW
The Lions opened the tournament with a season-best team score of 291, led by
Jamie Daniels who shattered her career-best mark with a three-under 69. Daniels finished her round with three birdies and an eagle. She was one of three Lions with an eagle during the opening round, joining
Andrea Alvarez and
Paula Mariana Sanchez. After 18 holes, Daniels held sole possession of the lead.
Alvarez compiled a 73 and had two birdies across the opening 18. Coming in just behind her was
Laura Sanchez and Mariana Sanchez with a 74 and 75, respectively Isabella Buckly shot an 83, while
Meredith Colby carded an 85 as an individual. Lindenwood finished the opening round in first place, 12 shots ahead of Evansville who was in second.
In the third round, Lindenwood shot a 318, led by Daniels who shot a 76 with the help of a team-high three birdies. Paula Sanchez recorded a 79, while Buckley and Alvarez fired an 83 and 84, respectively. Daniels hung on to first place by one stroke and the Lions captured the team tournament title by three shots.
Daniels led the whole field in par 4 scoring (4.00), and Par 5 scoring (4.50), shooting four under on the par 5s. The Lions were the only team in the field with an eagle, finishing with three.
