MARTIN, Tenn. - Lindenwood beach volleyball (8-7, 1-1 OVC) split their first two matches at the Ohio Valley Conference Beach Volleyball Weekend weekend of the season. The Lions started the day at 8:00 a.m. CT with a 3-2 victory before losing to Chattanooga by a final score of 4-1.
MATCH ONE
Lindenwood - 3
Tennessee Tech - 2
The Lions started out Friday morning with an early victory over Tennessee Tech by a final score of 3-2. It started off with a Tennessee Tech win in the five pairs in a close three sets for
Aubrey Sheppard and
Rebecca Janke by scores of 22-20, 16-21 and 10-15.
Gabby Belcher and
Taylor Gentemann picked up the Lions' first point of the match in the four pairs with scores of 21-14 and 22-20.
Abby Jacobs and
Annalie McWhorter added the second point for the Lions in the two pairs with impressive scores of 21-9 and 21-17.
The fourth pair to finish was the number one duo of
Nyah Wilson and
Abby VanBuskirk who lost in a close three sets by scores of 21-19, 13-21 and 11-15.
Kaelyn Putz and
Katie Bockhorst came in clutch when the match was tied at 2-2. In the three pairs, the duo clinched the Lions' victory with scores of 18-21, 21-16 and 15-12.
Lindenwood now moves to 6-2 all-time against the Golden Eagles including four straight wins.

Chattanooga - 4
Lindenwood's OVC recorded evened out on Friday afternoon as they suffered their first conference loss of the season against Chattanooga by a final score of 4-1. Belcher and Gentemann were the first pair to fall in the number fours losing by scores of 16-21 and 9-21.
Sheppard and Janke lost in the following match at the five pairs with scores of 11-21 and 16-21. Wilson and VanBuskirk followed in the ones losing to Neva Clark and Corina Vale by scores of 7-21 and 9-21. Jacobs and McWhorter also fell in the twos with scores of 16-21 and 16-21.
Putz and Bockhorst went a perfect 2-0 on Friday picking up a win in the threes against Chattanooga in three sets. The pair went the distance in three sets with scores of 16-21, 21-19 and 15-13.
Lindenwood will return to action tomorrow for two more matches at the first OVC Weekend of the season starting at 10:00 a.m. CT vs. Morehead State University. For more information go to lindenwoodlions.com.
